Cotton, handwoven on TC2
26 x 26 in.
“Untitled” (2023) is part of an ongoing investigation into the possibilities within the loom and her relation to it. Handwoven on a Jacquard loom, she combines technical skill with digital innovation to explore the performative nature of weaving — from the physical engagement it requires to the personal, up-close connection with the device itself. In doing so, Andrea delves deeper into themes of identity, intimacy, and memory. Memory embodies the recollection of something that has ceased to exist, no longer present but persisting in consciousness. Through this artwork, Andrea endeavors to unveil layers of vulnerability, delicately revealing the essence of the feminine form, bringing to light emotions that lie beyond the surface, a tether to our origins and the earth beneath us.
